Have you recently moved? Better still, have you moved as a new mom?
No one has to tell you it can be a lonely go of it with a baby or toddler or three in the house.
MOPS, which, no, doesn’t stand for Moms Outside Picketing Schools…it’s Mothers of Preschoolers. This national organization is found in many local churches and meets twice a month for fun, food, fellowship, potty-training advice, Moms nights out, devotions, games, speakers and the most beloved of all activities, talking. Oh, did I say talking without someone wiping their nose on your knee or putting cookie crumbs in your hair. MOPS has very wonderful and inexpensive childcare. Imagine that… you will have a few sane hours in your week.
I just finished up interviewing two MOPS coordinators in Huntersville, North Carolina (Lake Norman Baptist Church and Huntersville United Methodist Church) for a newspaper article. What I heard from the mothers I talked to was….”I’ve made so many friends for life at MOPS”, ”MOPS is my family away since I moved away”, and “It’s my support group.”
Moved recently? Climbing the walls? Check out MOPs for the nearest group.
